Bogor Woman Dragged Along Road While Attempting to Prevent Motorcycle Theft

A motorcycle thief named Efan Destian was apprehended by a mob after being caught and confronted by the victim in Tanah Sareal, Bogor City. A woman, who is a friend of the motorcycle owner, was dragged along the road while attempting to protect the vehicle as the perpetrator tried to flee.

“That is correct. The perpetrator has been secured and is still under investigation at the Tanah Sarecal Police Sub-station. The perpetrator is named Efan Destian,” said Tanah Sareal Police Sub-station Chief, Kompol Sonson Sudarsono, when asked for confirmation on Friday (4/9/2026).

Sonson stated that the incident occurred when the motorcycle owner, Erna, was visiting the home of her friend, Andini, in Cimanggu Barata, Bogor City, last night. The two women went to check the motorcycle parked in front of the house because they remembered the keys were still hanging in the ignition.

“Andini reminded Erna to take the keys. Subsequently, Erna and Andini went outside the house and found that their vehicle had already been pushed away by an unknown individual,” said Sonson.

Upon realising the motorcycle was being stolen, Erna and Andini attempted to reclaim the vehicle while shouting for help from local residents. Andini, who was holding onto the rear of the motorcycle, was dragged along the asphalt as the perpetrator continued to accelerate the vehicle.

“Erna and Andini attempted to defend the vehicle while shouting ‘thief’, and Andini was dragged by the vehicle, resulting in injuries,” said Sonson.

“The perpetrator was eventually secured by a motorcyclist and local residents. The suspect was briefly held at a resident’s house,” he added.

Sonson mentioned that the police, upon arriving at the scene, immediately secured the perpetrator from the angry mob. The suspect is currently undergoing interrogation at the Tanah Sareal Police Sub-station headquarters.

“After receiving the report, the Patrol Team and the Police Sub-station QR arrived at the crime scene and secured the perpetrator. He was then brought to the Tanah Sareal Police Sub-station Headquarters for further investigation,” said Sonson.
