JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — Bogor Police’s Traffic Unit is preparing several traffic engineering strategies ahead of the 1447 Hijri Eid exodus to anticipate the surge in vehicles heading to the Puncak tourist area in West Java.

One of the schemes being prepared is the implementation of a partial one-way system or opening and closing of specific road sections at several congestion-prone points.

According to a statement by the Head of Operations for Bogor Police Traffic Unit, Inspector First Class Ardian Novianto Azhari, the traffic engineering measures will be implemented situationally, depending on field conditions.

Unlike a full one-way system that closes access along an entire route, the partial opening and closing scheme is only applied at specific points experiencing vehicle congestion.

Based on police mapping, six points have been identified as focal areas for monitoring due to their frequent traffic congestion.

These six points include Pasir Muncang, Megamendung Junction, Cisarua Market, Lokawiratama Junction, Jatiwangi, and Gunung Mas.

The duration of the partial one-way implementation is relatively short, approximately 30 minutes. The engineering is conducted to reduce vehicle queues to prevent excessive buildup.

After traffic conditions improve and vehicle volumes decrease, the road will return to normal two-way operation.

However, police are also preparing alternative scenarios should vehicle volumes increase significantly.

If traffic flow becomes extremely congested, police can implement a full one-way system from Gadog Junction to the Cianjur border.
