Bogor to receive 3000 new staff

BOGOR (JP): In line with the implementation of regional autonomy this year, the Bogor mayoralty administration will acquire some 3,000 civil servants from the West Java provincial administration, an official said on Friday.

With the arrival of the new faces, the mayoralty will employ a total of 8,000 staff, the office's spokeswoman Dewi Kurnia said.

She said the mayoralty had to provide Rp 150 billion (US$15.8 million) for the employees' salaries, up from Rp 101.6 billion.

Dewi said the mayoralty administration was looking for suitable positions for the new staff, which might result in replacement of 250 personnel who hold key positions in money generating offices.

"If the existing employees fare better, they should not worry about removal," she said.

Separately, the mayoralty administration official in charge of human resources development, Engkos Kosasih, said the placement of the new staff would be conducted in a fair manner.

He said the office had a total of 5,112 employees, excluding 1,826 others who work on a contract basis. (01/21)
