Bogor to increase tax revenue

BOGOR: Mayor Diani Budiarto ordered officials at district and subdistrict levels to remind residents to pay their land and property taxes by September so that the 100 percent tax collection target could be met.

"Officials have to keep reminding them to pay taxes while giving public services," he said.

According to the head of the Bogor Revenue Agency, Bambang Gunawan, last year the municipality successfully collected over 95 percent of the targeted Rp 21 billion in land and property taxes.

"Our target this year is Rp 28 billion from 202,400 taxpayers in six districts," he was quoted as saying by Antara.

He expressed optimism of better performance this year, because "we have an online system that will ease the procedure for taxpayers". -- JP
