Bogor to get water treatment plant
BOGOR, West Java (JP): The Bogor mayoralty's tap water company (PDAM) is building another treatment plant with a capacity of 400 liters per second to support its existing plant which has a capacity of 650 liters per second.
Zainal Arifin, the head of PDAM Bogor's general affairs department, said on Monday that the project is scheduled for completion in September 1997.
Zainal said that his office has received more than US$16 million in loans from the Asian Development Bank for the project. "We also got Rp 4 billion from the West Java administration. PDAM Bogor provided Rp 5 billion for the project," he said.
"About 31,500 people have tap water now, and we expect to add another 2,475 by 2000," Zainal said. The Bogor mayoralty has around 274,000 people.
Speaking of the installation fees, Zainal said that a special price is being offered between new and March.
"Those who want to have our tap water service installed will only be charged Rp 200,000, instead of the normal tariff of between Rp 350,000 and Rp 450,000," he said. The offer, he said, is meant to help PDAM improve its service to the public. (21/sur)
