Bogor Temporarily Deactivates Two Biskita Bus Stops After Angkot Drivers Protest
A number of city transport (angkot) drivers and owners in Bogor stormed the Transportation Agency (Dishub) office, angered by the addition of Biskita bus stops along Jalan Raya Tajur. According to Dishub Bogor Head of Transport Dody Wahyudin, the drivers and owners of route 21 protested the new stops on the Tajur-Wangun-Ciawi route, claiming their income had dropped by nearly 50 per cent due to the eight new Biskita stops.
Dody explained that the additional bus stops were a response to residents’ requests for access to subsidised, cheap and comfortable transport. Currently, there are 11 Biskita stops along the Tajur-Ciawi corridor, installed in pairs on both sides of the road.
He noted that any removal of bus stops must be coordinated with the Biskita operator, as drivers face sanctions if they fail to stop at designated coordinates. Dody also addressed complaints about Biskita drivers behaving recklessly and carrying passengers over capacity, promising to relay these concerns to the operator for disciplinary action.
The protest, involving around 80 drivers and owners, was peaceful and their representatives were received for an audience with Dishub officials. Following negotiations, the agency agreed to temporarily deactivate two of the eight new bus stops at Wangun and Biotrop, as these were not considered potential passenger pockets. Dody stated the decision was made to maintain a conducive atmosphere while acknowledging the angkot drivers’ aspirations.
