Bogor Station Platforms 6, 7, and 8 Now Serve 12-Car Trains, KAI Continues Development

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) is strengthening service capacity at Bogor Station in response to high commuter mobility. Since 15 July 2026, platforms 6, 7, and 8 have been operational for 12-car Commuter Line trainsets (SF12). With this activation, all platforms at Bogor Station can now serve SF12 formations, whereas previously platforms 6, 7, and 8 were limited to a maximum of 10-car trainsets (SF10). During the first half of 2026, the Bogor Line served 78,077,679 customers. Over 181 days, the line averaged approximately 431,368 customers daily. Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI, Anne Purba, stated that the high volume of passengers makes capacity enhancement essential. The service improvements are designed to provide customers with more adequate space, a more orderly platform flow, and more reliable journeys to support daily activities. Purba noted that hundreds of thousands of customers rely on the Bogor Line daily for work, study, and accessing public services. Bogor Station recorded the highest KRL passenger movement compared to other stations serving the Greater Jakarta commuter line. During January to June 2026, the station recorded 18,451,462 passenger movements, comprising 9,371,324 gate-ins and 9,080,405 gate-outs, averaging around 101,942 movements per day. This activity has increased compared to previous years. The station currently handles 392 commuter trips on weekdays and 373 on weekends. Purba explained that operating SF12 trainsets on all platforms provides greater flexibility in managing arrivals and departures and supports better passenger distribution. Prior to commissioning, platforms 6, 7, and 8 underwent load testing with a locomotive on 29 June 2026, followed by KRL operational trials on 1 July 2026, and joint testing involving infrastructure, rolling stock, and operations teams. Further development at Bogor Station will include canopy construction on platforms 4 and 5, with passenger services temporarily focused on platforms 2, 3, 6, 7, and 8 from 18 July 2026. The canopy on platforms 2 and 3 will also be extended to cover the full length of a 12-car trainset. Additionally, KAI plans to install an escalator in the eastern concourse area to connect to the skybridge leading to Bogor Paledang Station, which serves the Pangrango train to Sukabumi. The Pangrango service carried 591,479 customers in the first half of 2026, a 6.69 percent increase from the same period in 2025. This improved access is expected to facilitate seamless transfers between commuter and intercity rail services.
