KAI (PT Kereta Api Indonesia Persero) and KAI Commuter are revitalising and extending platforms 6, 7, and 8 at Bogor Station as part of capacity enhancement for the Commuter Line on the Bogor Line corridor. The works began on 15 April 2026 and are targeted for completion in July 2026. The revitalisation supports operations of Commuter Line trains consisting of 12 carriages (SF12), increasing passenger carrying capacity. Anne Purba, Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI, said improving Bogor Station facilities is a key step in ensuring smooth mobility for customers whose numbers continue to grow annually. “The Bogor Line is one of the lines with the highest passenger mobility in the Jabodetabek area. The growth in passenger volumes must be matched by station capacity readiness and service pattern adjustments to ensure customers receive optimal service,” she stated in a press release to Kompas.com on Tuesday, 19 May 2026. The station has become one of the busiest in the Commuter Line Jabodetabek network. KAI data shows gate-in passengers at Bogor Station from January to April 2026 reached 6,140,074, while gate-out numbers stood at 5,959,832. In 2025, Bogor’s gate-in total was 18,199,619 and gate-out 18,171,350, up from 2024’s 17,124,802 gate-in and 17,276,284 gate-out. There was also a general uptick in Bogor Line users. In 2022, the number of customers was 102,054,022. From January to April 2026, Bogor Line passengers reached 51,868,066. Purba explained that operating the 12-carriage train service will provide greater capacity per journey, improving passenger distribution, especially during peak hours. “The extra capacity via a 12-carriage operation is prepared to meet the growing needs of customers. With a larger capacity per trip, services are expected to run more smoothly and offer a more comfortable travel experience,” she added. In addition to platform extension and track adjustments, the revitalisation includes the construction of a new canopy over platforms 6, 7, and 8.
