Bogor Station Footbridge Demolished, Pelican Crossing to Be Built

The demolition of the pedestrian bridge (JPO) in front of Bogor Station on Jalan Kapten Muslihat, Bogor City, has commenced. A pelican crossing will be built in its place. Bogor Mayor Dedie Rachim stated on Saturday (27/6/2026) that this is part of the city’s effort to become pedestrian-friendly. The JPO will be replaced by a pelican crossing or zebra crossing as the main facility for people to cross the road. This measure aims to prioritise pedestrians and cultivate a driving culture that is more respectful of pedestrian rights, encouraging both two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicle drivers to brake when people are crossing, thereby instilling a value of human solidarity. The project is being carried out by a private party with a budget allocation of Rp 329 million and is targeted for completion within one month. The mayor noted that the work would be accelerated, with the main construction beginning immediately and the support slings being cut to lower the central girder. The demolition began on Friday (26/6) and is planned to continue until Thursday (2/7). During the demolition, which takes place from midnight to 4 a.m. WIB, the entire road access under the bridge will be closed for a minimum of four days and a maximum of seven days. The footbridge in front of Bogor Station has been closed since 2025 after a structural study by the Directorate General of Highways at the Ministry of Public Works declared it severely damaged.
