The Bogor City Government has begun the construction phase of a new road, intended to replace Jalan Saleh Danasasmita, which also serves as the access road to Batu Tulis Station in Bogor City. The land, which was purchased from local residents, is now being levelled.

“The Bogor City Government has started the levelling work on the planned new access road, which will divert traffic from Jalan Saleh Danasasmita. This initial process includes land preparation, levelling, and the inspection and relocation of utilities in the area,” said Bogor City Secretary, Denny Mulyadi, on Tuesday (24 February 2026).

During the levelling process, Denny said, several large trees will be uprooted and moved to another location. The area also contains utility networks belonging to the Bogor City Water Company, which need to be relocated.

“The trees that are being cut down will be replanted, where possible, and efforts will be made to move and replant them along the R3 road. The utility relocation is expected to be completed within one to two weeks,” said Denny.

Denny stated that the physical construction of the new road, intended to replace Jalan Saleh Danasasmita, will be fully carried out by the West Java Provincial Government. Currently, the process is still in the tender phase at the West Java Provincial Government.

“The physical construction is still in the tender phase by the West Java Provincial Government, and it is hoped that it will be completed soon,” said Denny.

“The physical construction is expected to begin within the next two to three months, as it is currently in the tender and planning review phase. It is hoped that this process will proceed quickly so that the results can be enjoyed by the residents of Bogor City who are affected,” he added.

For information, Jalan Saleh Danasasmita, which is the main access road to Batu Tulis Station and an alternative route to Sukabumi, collapsed in early March 2025. Since then, four-wheeled vehicles heading to the city centre of Bogor have been diverted through alternative routes, passing through residential areas.

The Bogor City Government then decided to replace Jalan Saleh Danasasmita, as the road had repeatedly collapsed and suffered landslides, posing a danger to road users. The construction of the new road requires funding of IDR 26 billion.
