Police raided a house in the Cileungsi area, Bogor Regency, West Java, suspected of being used as a shelter for prospective illegal Indonesian migrant workers (PMI). Two victims and one alleged perpetrator were secured during the covert operation.

“The attempt to send female workers (TKW) illegally to Oman was successfully thwarted by Cileungsi Police Sector officers,” said Cileungsi Police Chief Kompol Edison on Thursday (23/4/2026).

The raid took place on Wednesday (22/4). The shelter was uncovered after police received a report from the public suspecting activities at the house.

“Following up on the report, the Cileungsi Police Sector Criminal Investigation Unit team immediately moved quickly to the location,” he explained.

Upon arrival at the scene, police found two women from Karawang, West Java, initials W and S. Both were to be sent as illegal PMI to Oman.

“During the operation, we also secured a man with initials W, known to be the brother-in-law of the main perpetrator,” he stated.

W attempted to escape and hid in a mosque bathroom. However, his efforts failed, and he was still apprehended by the police.

“Subsequently, the man underwent in-depth interrogation by the police. Meanwhile, the main perpetrator with initials S managed to escape and is still being pursued by authorities,” he revealed.

The two women were then evacuated to the police station for examination. The victims claimed they were recruited by a sponsor with promises of working abroad.

“However, they did not receive training, did not know the location of an official office, did not know the person in charge, and did not hold the administrative documents that should be requirements before departure,” he explained.

The two victims were then returned to their families. Edison urged the public not to fall for promises of working abroad without clear regulations.
