BOGOR - Residents around Jalan Sekip have repaired the Cipaku-Lawanggintung alternative road using funds from community self-reliance and donations from motorcyclists who use the route.

The Cipaku-Lawanggintung alternative road serves as access for drivers after the closure of Jalan Saleh Danasasmita, which is prone to landslides.

The alternative road coordinator, Nawi (33), stated that around 130 motorcyclists pass through the route daily, with operating hours from 05:00 WIB to 21:00 WIB.

He detailed that 70 to 80 motorcyclists use the alternative route from Lawanggintung to Cipaku.

Initially, the alternative route was known only to a few regular users who took it for quicker access to Cipaku or Lawanggintung.

However, since Jalan Saleh Danasasmita in Batutulis was closed in January 2026, many drivers have started using the Cipaku-Lawanggintung alternative route.

“The sub-district office immediately called me, asking for coordination because many people now know this route. That’s why it was designated as a priority alternative route recently; originally it was just for locals, but it turns out to be useful for others too,” said Nawi when met by Kompas.com on Jalan Sekip, Bogor City, on Wednesday (13/5/2026).

Currently, the alternative road is closed for repairs because it collapsed due to heavy rain.

The road repairs have been underway since Tuesday (12/5/2026) until Wednesday (13/5/2026).

He explained that residents around the alternative road regularly repair it every week by monitoring the condition of the potholed road.

However, this time the road was deemed to have suffered severe damage from the collapse caused by high rainfall and heavy vehicle volume.

The road repairs also utilised voluntary donations from passing drivers and nearby residents.

“So the collapsed section has been repaired by us residents after today, using funds from those passing through and from some of the locals,” he said.

The collapsed road section was repaired from Tuesday (12/5/2026) until early Wednesday (13/5/2026) by filling the hole with rubble and covering it with cement.
