Bogor Resident's House Wall Collapses After Retaining-Wall Landslide
A wall of a resident’s house in Desa Cijeruk, Kecamatan Cijeruk, Bogor, West Java, collapsed after being hit by debris from a landslide involving the section of a retaining wall behind the house. The incident occurred on Tuesday night (3 March 2026), with the landslide not able to withstand the downpour that followed. According to M Adam Hamdani, head of Emergency and Logistics at the Bogor Regency Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the collapse was aggravated by strong winds. He said: ‘Besides the rain, the fairly strong winds caused the bedroom wall to collapse as the retaining wall (TPT) behind the house slipped due to unstable soil that could not withstand the heavy rain.’ As a result, two houses sustained moderate damage, with their bedroom walls collapsing. ‘The retaining wall behind the house collapsed, causing the soil to slide down and the bedroom wall to collapse,’ he added. The collapsed wall measured 5 metres in length, 2 metres in width and 8 metres in height. He stressed that there were no fatalities. Further action by the relevant agencies is required. For now, the damaged houses are covered using recycled banners and tarpaulins as available.
