Bogor Resident's Home and Motorcycle Spare Parts Shop Gutted by Fire While Unoccupied
A residential unit that also served as a motorcycle spare parts shop was severely damaged by fire in Citeureup, Bogor, West Java. The blaze is suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit.
“The object that caught fire was a residential unit used for selling motorcycle spare parts,” said Head of the Bogor Regency Fire Department, Yudi Santosa, on Tuesday (16/6/2026).
Yudi stated that the fire was reported by the homeowner’s neighbour at around 4:00 a.m. Western Indonesia Time. At the time of the incident, the house was empty as the owner was away.
“Residents became aware of the fire when the flames had already grown quite large. At the time of the incident, the house was unoccupied. After seeing the sizeable fire, the victim’s neighbour immediately called the Citeureup fire station,” Yudi explained.
“According to residents, the initial cause of the fire is suspected to be an electrical short circuit, because in addition to being a residence, the house was also used for a motorcycle body and spare parts business,” he added.
Yudi mentioned that two fire engines from the Citeureup and Sentul sectors were deployed to the location for handling. The fire was successfully brought under control after approximately one hour of firefighting operations.
“After receiving the report, the team immediately dispatched two units to the fire location. The extinguishing process proceeded smoothly,” Yudi said.
