Bogor Regent to Bus Drivers: If Sleepy, Take a Rest
The Bogor Regency government dispatched around 4,000 mudik travellers heading to West Java, Central Java, and East Java using 77 bus fleets during the 2026 Lebaran period. As they carry extraordinary joy and mudik participants awaited by their families in the village, bus drivers are urged to drive more carefully to ensure the safety of passengers. “If you’re sleepy, rest; don’t force yourself to drive. Because they carry extraordinary happiness, there’s a grandchild awaited by their grandmother, a child awaited by their parents. I advise the drivers: remember, you are carrying a very great trust. Deliver them safely and well to their village destinations,” said Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto at Gelora Pakansari, Cibinong, on Wednesday, 17 March 2026. Rudy stated that initially this year, the Bogor Regency government intended to dispatch mudik travellers from the island to inter-island Sumatra. However, due to limited bus fleets, it only facilitated mudik to several areas on Java island. For the 77-unit bus fleet, Rudy mentioned that this is a combination from the Bogor Resort Police with 40 units, Bogor Regency Government 20 units, and 17 units from the private sector. As the regional head with the largest population, Rudy also appreciated the collaboration in the free mudik dispatch. “I also appreciate the officers who are ready to maintain security and smoothness during the two coinciding holidays, namely Nyepi and Idul Fitri. While other residents celebrate the holidays with their families, you all here serve the community and carry out your duties,” said Rudy. One of the mudik participants, Uripah, admitted to being happy because this year she could mudik for Lebaran after about five years without doing so. The 43-year-old woman previously received information about the free mudik programme from her neighbour. She then registered online for herself, her husband, and two children. Her registration to Solo was accepted by the officers, and Uripah along with her family became part of the free mudik organised by the Bogor Regency Government. “The last mudik to Solo was before Covid; after that until today, no mudik due to costs. Alhamdulillah, this year I can be a participant in the free mudik held by the Bogor Regency Government; of course, I am very happy to be able to reunite and gather during the holiday with relatives in the hometown,” said Uripah.
