The Bogor Regency Government in West Java is preparing a cable car project connecting the Summarecon area with the Gunung Mas Rest Area along the Puncak tourist route, utilising a private investment scheme without using the regional budget. Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto stated in Cibinong on Monday that the project is still in the feasibility study stage while the local government establishes communication with several investors. “There is a cable car concept, then there is a KRL concept, and so on. But we must speak objectively that it requires quite substantial financing,” said Rudy. He emphasised that the construction of the cable car will not burden the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget because the investment requirement reaches trillions of rupiah. “We will not charge the construction costs to the APBD. Because if using the APBD, the cost would require trillions of rupiah. We want the private sector,” he stated. Rudy explained that the cable car concept has been prepared by building a lower shelter in the Summarecon area in Sukaraja District, serving as a park-and-ride location before heading to the Puncak area. From this shelter, tourists will be transported by cable car to the upper shelter located in the Gunung Mas Rest Area. “The concept actually already exists. The lower shelter is from before Gadog, namely Summarecon. We have land there for the park-and-ride, then the final point is the rest area,” he said. According to Rudy, the project is one of the alternative solutions for handling congestion in the Puncak area, which has so far depended on road transportation, while also encouraging the integration of the transportation system towards the tourist area.
