Bogor Regent Proposes Development of Lebak-Bogor-Sukabumi Axis Road

Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto has introduced a proposal to develop an axis road connecting Lebak Regency, Bogor Regency, and Sukabumi Regency to provide new access and stimulate the economy in western Bogor. Speaking in Cibinong, West Java, on Tuesday, Rudy stated that the local government has included the construction plan for the Malasari-Cianten connecting road in the 2026 development programme.

“In 2026, we are creating a new plan to connect Malasari Road with the Cianten area so that the economy can move,” he said. According to Rudy, the development of this section is part of an effort to expand connectivity in western Bogor, which borders Lebak Regency in Banten Province and Sukabumi Regency in West Java.

He confirmed that communication has begun with the local governments of the two neighbouring regions to realise this cross-regency axis road. “We have started building communication with the Lebak and Sukabumi Regency Governments to jointly develop the Lebak-Bogor-Sukabumi Axis,” he added.

Rudy explained that the route will connect to Malasari Road in the Nanggung District, which is currently being developed by the Bogor Regency Government as an access point to western Bogor. Once realised, residents travelling to Sukabumi or Palabuhanratu will no longer need to pass through the central routes of Bogor Regency.

“Once the axis road is built, Bogor will complete and widen Malasari Road, which will then connect to Lebak-Banten and subsequently to Sukabumi,” he said. He noted that this alternative route could shorten travel times and create new economic growth opportunities in areas that have historically been relatively isolated.

The proposal for the Lebak-Bogor-Sukabumi Axis emerged after the construction of Nirmala Road in Malasari Village began impacting local economic activities and the tourism sector. The 18.5-kilometre road has opened access to tourist areas at the foot of Mount Halimun Salak, which were previously difficult to reach, thereby driving an increase in tourist visits and local business activities.
