Bogor Regent: Prabowo Creates Historic Joyful May Day

Bogor Regency (ANTARA) - Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto views the 2026 International Labour Day (May Day) commemoration as a historic moment because it unfolds with joy and unity. Rudy Susmanto in Cibinong on Friday stated that this year’s May Day commemoration shows a significant change compared to previous years, which were often coloured by protest actions. He assessed that the more conducive celebratory atmosphere reflects the strong togetherness between workers and the government. “This is a historic moment for our nation. Labour Day is usually filled with demonstrations, but today the workers are celebrating it with joy,” said Rudy. According to him, thousands of workers from various organisations and groups flocked to the National Monument (Monas) area in Jakarta to participate in the May Day commemoration while meeting the President of the Republic of Indonesia. “Some departed using buses, others using motorbikes, all heading to their respective points to celebrate May Day together,” he said. Rudy Susmanto, along with Bogor Police Chief AKBP Wikha Ardilestanto, escorted the departure of around 28,000 workers to Jakarta for the International Labour Day or May Day commemoration early Friday morning. A total of 28,494 workers affiliated with various labour unions were dispatched from several points in the Bogor Regency area to the Monas area in Central Jakarta. “We appreciate our fellow workers and sympathisers who have maintained order from the preparations to the departure. Earlier, we began with congregational prayers to seek blessings and smoothness for today’s event,” said AKBP Wikha. He explained that of the total departing crowd, 5,800 people gathered at the main point in Pakansari, while 22,694 others were dispatched from around 80 different points in the Bogor Police jurisdiction area. For the main group, 116 bus units were prepared and departed around 05:20 WIB via the Sentul Alternative Road to the Jagorawi Toll Road with police escort.
