Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto has emphasised that waste management in Bogor Regency must be carried out collaboratively, involving all parties down to the village level, along with active community involvement. This was stated during the Meeting on Financial Assistance Acceleration for Waste Management on Wednesday, 29 April 2026. The meeting represents a strategic step by the Bogor Regency Government (Pemkab Bogor) to promote more structured and comprehensive waste management, while also accelerating village-based development through financial assistance support. Rudy explained that collaboration between the regency government, sub-districts, villages, and even neighbourhood units (RT/RW) is the key to building an effective waste management system. Handling is conducted from upstream to downstream, starting from waste reduction at the source, strengthening community education, to providing supporting facilities and infrastructure at the village and neighbourhood levels. “Waste management in Bogor Regency must be carried out collaboratively, involving all parties down to the village level and active community roles. This is supported by budget strengthening through financial assistance as a strategic step to drive a more structured system from upstream to downstream,” he said. To support this, Rudy directed the proportional utilisation of village financial assistance, including for waste management programmes, strengthening Environmentally Friendly Villages (KRL), and providing supporting facilities at the village and RW levels. The KRL programme is also promoted based on strategic regional areas and strengthened through competitions between RT/RW to increase community awareness and participation. In addition, the local government is opening opportunities for the arrangement and legalisation of illegal Waste Disposal Sites (TPS) with certain criteria, so that waste management can be more orderly and integrated into a sustainable system. Through these steps, Pemkab Bogor targets the creation of a waste management system that is not only effective but also delivers tangible impacts on environmental cleanliness and improved community welfare. Support for accelerating financial assistance is expected to begin disbursement in June 2026 as a reinforcement for on-the-ground implementation.
