Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto stated that his administration will proceed with the construction of the road connecting the mining areas from Rumpin to Cigudeg, even as the West Java Provincial Government continues to review mining activities in the region. Rudy noted that the road construction will provide benefits to the community, even if mining activities are not permitted to resume by the provincial government.

“Even if the West Java Provincial Government decides not to reopen them, this road will become the economic lifeline for the people of Cigudeg to Rumpin. Therefore, when we build this road, no one loses. The benefits will extend to the entire population of Bogor Regency, particularly in western Bogor,” Rudy said in Cibinong on Tuesday.

According to Rudy, the road being constructed is not a specialised route exclusively for mining company vehicles, but rather a district-class road that can be utilised by all types of freight transport. “We are not building a road that can only be traversed by mining operations. We are building a district-class road through which all goods transport and mining transport can pass,” he added.

He further explained that if the West Java Provincial Government permits mining activities to resume, all mining transport will be required to use this route. However, Rudy emphasised that the authority to permit or halt mining operations rests entirely with the West Java Provincial Government. “The authority to resume operations does not lie with the Bogor Regency Government. Therefore, we are fully awaiting the policy from the West Java Provincial Government,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Bogor Regency Government is continuing the construction stages, which have currently entered the site designation process at the West Java Provincial Government level. Rudy explained that the mining road construction plan has been in the planning stage since 2025, and this year the focus is on the administrative process of land acquisition.

“If the administration is completed by 2026, we are currently in the site designation process. The site designation must receive approval from the West Java Provincial Government,” he noted. Once the site designation is issued, the local government will proceed with the land appraisal process as the basis for the land compensation required for the road construction.

Rudy stated that a budget of IDR 100 billion has been prepared in the 2026 Bogor Regency Regional Budget (APBD) to ensure that the land acquisition stage can be implemented immediately once all administrative processes are finalised.

Previously, West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi stated that the provincial government is still assessing the sustainability of mining activities in the western region of Bogor Regency before proceeding with the construction of a dedicated mining transport road. According to Dedi, such an assessment is necessary to ensure the extent of the mining areas that can still operate, the environmental impacts, and the direction of economic development for the community after mining activities conclude.
