Bogor Regency to build haj embarkation resembling Zamzam Tower
The Bogor Regency government in West Java will build a seven-storey hajj and umrah embarkation facility worth Rp142 billion, with a concept resembling the Zamzam Tower in Mecca, starting in 2027.
Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto said the embarkation facility is being prepared in the area of the Nurul Wathon Grand Mosque, near Pakansari Stadium, to improve services for pilgrims from the region.
“God willing, in 2027-2028, we will assess the regional financial capacity. If it is feasible and hopefully the central government provides assistance, we want Bogor Regency to have its own hajj embarkation,” said Rudy.
With this facility, the Bogor Regency government hopes that pilgrims from Bogor will be able to receive departure services in their own area without having to first travel to the Pondok Gede Hajj Embarkation in Jakarta.
Head of the Bogor Regency Housing and Settlement Areas Agency, Eko Mujiarto, explained that the embarkation building is planned to have seven floors with a budget requirement of approximately Rp142 billion from the Bogor Regency regional budget for the 2027 fiscal year.
The project was previously planned to be carried out in the current fiscal year. However, the regional government shifted its implementation because the available time was deemed insufficient for the building construction.
“The time factor was not enough to build a hotel. Because we have to go through the tender process and other stages, there were only about six months left,” said Eko.
“The plan is for the tender process to begin in December, so that construction can start in January,” he said.
Eko said the postponement was made so that the construction would have adequate working time and the results could be more optimal.
The embarkation facility will be part of the development of the Nurul Wathon Grand Mosque area, which stands on 2.6 hectares of land and was built using the Bogor Regency regional budget for the 2025 fiscal year, valued at Rp112 billion.
The mosque is equipped with a 99-metre Tauhid Tower, a miniature Kaaba for hajj rituals, as well as a number of ornaments related to the Kaaba to support religious activities in the Pakansari area.
