Bogor Regency Population Surpasses 23 Indonesian Provinces

Bogor Regency is the regency with the largest population in this data set, reaching 5.76 million people. This figure is even greater than the total population of Bali Province, which is recorded at 4.49 million. In the next positions, Bandung Regency has 3.81 million residents, followed by Tangerang Regency with 3.47 million and Bekasi Regency with 3.33 million. Interestingly, all ten regencies in the top list are located on the island of Java. The gap between Bogor and the second rank is quite wide. Bogor has 5.76 million residents, while Bandung in second place is recorded at 3.81 million. After Bandung, the next positions are occupied by Tangerang Regency and Bekasi Regency with 3.47 million and 3.33 million residents respectively. What is interesting is that the population of Bogor is larger than the population of 23 provinces. These include Papua (4,656,334), Bali (4,488,243), East Kalimantan (4,478,356), South Kalimantan (4,372,109), Jambi (3,811,661), and Yogyakarta (3,802,716). From the ten regencies with the largest populations, none are located outside Java. West Java contributes the most with five regencies, namely Bogor, Bandung, Bekasi, Sukabumi and Garut. Two other regencies are in East Java, namely Malang and Surabaya City. Jakarta Province is represented by one region, East Jakarta City. This pattern makes the list quite concentrated. Not only because Java has several regions with large populations, but six of the top ten regencies alone come from one province, West Java.
