The Bogor Regency Government in West Java officially inaugurated the Skywalk, or Pedestrian Bridge (JPO), on Tegar Beriman Street in Cibinong on Saturday night as a new icon of the administrative centre and a public space for art and entertainment events. Bogor Regency Secretary Ajat Rochmat Jatnika said the Skywalk would not only serve as a pedestrian crossing but also function as a main stage for art and entertainment performances. The inauguration took place as part of a special Car Free Night (CFN) event, which is part of Bogor’s 544th anniversary celebrations. He explained that the Skywalk at the Bappenda intersection in Tegar Beriman was designed as a modern public space supporting economic activities and enhancing connectivity in the strategic government administrative area. He added that the Skywalk is part of developing the Tegar Beriman corridor as an inclusive, pedestrian-friendly, safe area with architectural value that reinforces Bogor Regency’s identity. ‘The concept is not just for crossing but also as an icon that strengthens Bogor Regency’s identity,’ he said. The Skywalk connects several strategic areas in Cibinong, including Cibinong City Mall, Situ Kabantenan, the Bappenda building, the court complex, and youth areas. Its presence is expected to enhance public mobility and support surrounding business activities. Ajat noted the JPO was built to improve pedestrian safety, as existing pelican crossings were deemed insufficient to ensure safety amid high vehicle traffic at the intersection. ‘The JPO serves as a connector for strategic areas. This effort aims to provide comfortable and safe connectivity,’ he said. Alongside the Skywalk inauguration, the special CFN event also welcomed participants of the HJB Run 2026, a night-running event. The race connected Bogor City and Bogor Regency, starting at Bogor City Hall and finishing at the Tegar Beriman Skywalk in Cibinong. 250 selected runners participated in the event as part of the 544th anniversary celebrations. He said the local government had prepared measures to ensure public comfort during the special CFN, including traffic management around the event area. ‘We apologise for any inconvenience caused to road users by the special CFN event. However, we have implemented safety measures, including keeping slow lanes open for vehicle traffic,’ Ajat said.
