Bogor Regency Government Regrets Sidewalk Damage on Sentul Alternative Road Due to Motorcycles

The Bogor Regency Government (Pemkab) regrets the damage to the pavement on Jalan Alternatif Sentul, Sukaraja District, Bogor Regency, caused by motorcycles frequently using it. According to the government, this harms the public who use the pedestrian facility.

“We very much regret it, as it is a public facility that has become damaged. Then the public who enjoy it, some like to hang out there. There are indeed chairs for people to sit on,” said the Head of the Bogor Regency Public Works and Spatial Planning Department (PUPR), Suryanto Putra, on Thursday (13/8/2026).

As an initial follow-up, he said repairs would be carried out on the pavement. According to him, even though there are officers on patrol, motorcyclists remain stubborn.

“We will repair it. That is why we are also confused. As far as I know, the police have also been securing the area. But there are still those who are stubborn and use that route,” he explained.

His office will also coordinate with other parties to prevent similar incidents from recurring, including taking action against motorists who violate the rules.

“Yes, that (pavement) is indeed for people, not allowed for vehicles. So if there are vehicles, whether going against the direction or in the same direction, that is a violation,” he said.

“But that endangers other people who are walking. Because people pass through there,” he added.

Previously, the pavement on Jalan Alternatif Sentul, Cijujung Village, Sukaraja District, Bogor, was frequently used by motorcyclists until it became damaged. A local resident named Amir (58) revealed that motorcyclists taking students to school are reluctant to turn around because it is farther.

“There is a junior high school behind this housing estate. Yes, if they turn around it is far. They just go through here (the pavement),” said Amir, who often sells agate stones at the location in the morning, on Thursday (6/8).

Amir said that occasionally traffic police are on guard around the location. At those times, he said, motorcyclists do not dare to use the pavement.

“If there are police, it is not allowed, they guard here too. If, for example, the police are there, all the motorbikes only go up to here (not onto the pavement),” he said.

“Yes, it is all schoolchildren (who pass through). Yes, sometimes there are also vendors passing through there, tempeh sellers or whatever,” he added.

Amir regrets the actions of motorcyclists using the pavement. He said the recently renovated pavement has now become severely damaged.

“It has only been recently (that it became damaged). It was just built and it is already damaged because motorbikes all go in there. So if there are only police, it cannot be prevented,” he added.
