Bogor Regency Government Redesigns Puncak Rest Area

The Government of Bogor Regency, West Java, is redesigning the Puncak Rest Area in the Gunung Mas area, Cisarua, to improve the area’s function as a tourism node while supporting traffic engineering. Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto stated that the reorganisation involves changing the area’s design, including demolishing a number of shop buildings so that large buses can enter the rest area. “Later, several shop buildings will be demolished. Why must they be demolished? Large buses cannot enter. So, we must reorganise,” said Rudy. According to him, the reorganisation aims to integrate the Puncak Rest Area with the Gunung Mas tourism area, allowing tourist vehicles, especially buses, to stop within the complex. Additionally, the Bogor Regency Government is relocating the Cisarua Police Station headquarters into the rest area so that the implementation of the Puncak Route traffic engineering system can be centralised at the location. “Once the police station is built and personnel are stationed there, the open-close system will be managed from the rest area. So, all buses and cars will park inside,” he said. Rudy revealed that the Puncak Rest Area will also be expanded with an additional four hectares of land that has been prepared to support the area’s development. However, he stressed that the subsequent development will be carried out through collaboration with investors and the regional-owned enterprise Sayaga Wisata without relying on the regional budget. “From now on, let’s not talk about government money. We must be creative. Find investors who are willing to collaborate,” he said. Previously, in July 2024, PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) III approved the Bogor Regency Government’s request to add approximately four hectares of land to the existing seven-hectare Gunung Mas Rest Area to support the reorganisation of the Puncak tourism area.
