Bogor Regency Government Redesigns Puncak Rest Area
The Bogor Regency Government, West Java, is redesigning the Puncak Rest Area in the Gunung Mas area, Cisarua, to enhance the area’s function as a tourism hub and support traffic engineering measures.
Speaking in Cibinong, West Java, on Tuesday, the Regent of Bogor, Rudy Susmanto, stated that the restructuring involves changing the area’s design, including the demolition of several shop units to ensure large buses can enter the rest area.
“Some shop buildings will be demolished. Why must we demolish them? Because large buses cannot enter. Therefore, we must redesign the area,” said Rudy.
According to him, the restructuring aims to integrate the Puju Rest Area with the Gunung Mas tourism area, allowing tourist vehicles, particularly buses, to stop within the premises.
Additionally, the Bogor Regency Government will relocate the Cisarua Police Sub-district (Polsek) Headquarters into the rest area so that the implementation of the ‘open-close’ traffic system on the Puncak Route can be centralised at that location.
“Once the police headquarters is ready and personnel are present, the open-close operations will be managed at the rest area. This way, during the open-close periods, all buses and cars can park inside,” he added.
Rudy revealed that the Puncak Rest Area will also be expanded with an additional area of approximately four hectares, which has been prepared to support the development of the area.
However, he emphasised that further development will be carried out through collaboration with investors alongside the regional-owned enterprise (BUMD) Sayaga Wisata, without relying on the regional budget (APBD).
“Today, we should not talk about government funds. We must be creative. We need to find investors who are willing to collaborate,” he said.
Previously, in July 2024, PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) III approved the Bogor Regency Government’s request to add approximately four hectares of land to the Gunung Mas Rest Area, increasing it from the existing seven hectares to support the development of the Puncak tourism area.
