Bogor Regency Government Forms Team to Accelerate Cijurey Dam Construction
Bogor Regency Government has formed a joint team with the Citarum River Basin Agency (BBWS Citarum) and the Ministry of Public Works to accelerate the construction of the Cijurey Dam, a national strategic project now targeted for completion by the end of 2027, earlier than the original 2028 schedule. Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto stated that the team was established to ensure the project’s timeline is expedited. “We have formed a team with BBWS Citarum and the Ministry of Public Works to help complete the project together, for acceleration,” Rudy said on Friday. He explained that the dam’s construction is currently progressing according to its established phases. The acceleration effort aims to advance the completion date from 2028 to the end of 2027. The Cijurey Dam project spans four villages across three sub-districts: Sukamakmur, Cariu, and Tanjungsari. Rudy noted that the dam is prioritised to strengthen irrigation services for agricultural land that frequently suffers from drought during the dry season. Beyond irrigation, the dam is designed to function as flood control infrastructure. According to the project plan, the Cijurey Dam is projected to reduce flooding by up to 59.33 percent. The Regent added that the Bogor Regency Government will continue to coordinate with BBWS Citarum and the Ministry of Public Works to ensure the project’s acceleration. In addition to the Cijurey Dam, the Cibeet Dam project is also progressing and has reached approximately 91 percent completion. Rudy emphasised that both dams are expected to bolster water security, support irrigation, mitigate flood risks, and stimulate economic growth in Bogor Regency and the surrounding areas.
