Bogor Regency Government, West Java, stated that the construction of the Cijurey Dam is being prioritised to strengthen irrigation services for agricultural lands that often experience drought during the dry season.

Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto, during an exposition on the progress of the Cibeet and Cijurey Dam construction at the Bogor Regent’s Pavilion, said the construction of both dams is part of an effort to strengthen water resilience and support sustainable development in Bogor Regency.

“The Cijurey Dam is expected to irrigate agricultural lands that frequently suffer from drought during the dry season, thereby supporting regional food security,” Rudy said on Tuesday.

Besides irrigation, the Cijurey Dam is also designed to reduce flood risk. Based on the presentation received by the Bogor Regency Government, the 203.9-hectare dam is projected to be capable of reducing flooding by up to 59.33 percent.

On the same occasion, Rudy explained that the progress of both the Cijurey and Cibeet dams is showing positive development. The regional government, together with the Citarum River Basin Centre (BBWS Citarum), continues to coordinate to accelerate the completion of the two national strategic projects.

Although initially targeted for completion in 2028, the government is pushing for the construction of both dams to be finished by the end of 2027, in accordance with the directive of the Minister of Public Works.

“Alhamdulillah, the progress of the construction of these two dams is going well. We continue to coordinate with BBWS Citarum so that the construction process can be accelerated and the benefits can be immediately felt by the community,” said Rudy.

He also expressed his appreciation to BBWS Citarum and all parties involved in overseeing the construction of the two dams and urged the public to support the smooth progress of the construction until the target is met.
