Bogor Regency Government Asks Residents to Be Patient Regarding Mine Closure Compensation

Regarding the compensation, it has been conveyed several times by the Governor. The Governor estimated that the number of people affected by the mine is 3,000. Thus, the Governor can provide compensation every month,” said the Deputy Regent of Bogor, Ade Ruhandi, on Thursday (14/5/2026).

However, it turned out that the number increased to 18,000. According to him, the Bogor Regency Government is only authorised to provide input to the West Java Provincial Government in this matter.

“It turned out that starting from 6,000, it increased to 9,000, then to 18,000, and that is not our authority. We are only conveying aspirations in the form of letters or through audiences with the Governor. This is the fact of the aspirations conveyed by the community,” he explained.

“So, everything is not wrong, everyone is trying. But the conclusion is that I ask for patience first. The Governor and the Regent certainly have the best concepts for the short, medium, and long term for the interests of Bogor Regency,” added Ade.

Ade himself supports the policy from the Regent. First, he stated that government development includes infrastructure, which requires materials.

“Second, health. If repairing all health infrastructure also requires materials. Next, education. Our children must go to school, right. This also requires repairing all schools, which needs materials. The development of MBG requires materials. The development of the Merah Putih cooperative also requires materials,” said Ade.

Meanwhile, the policy currently being implemented is appropriate. The mine evaluation and improvement policy is carried out by involving academics from various universities.

“Including the needs for national strategic development, PSN (national strategic programme), also requires materials. We have the Cibeet Dam, not yet the toll road construction, then BSD-Bogor will also be implemented. All of them require materials, right,” explained Ade.

He said that if materials are purchased from outside Bogor, the price would not fit with the budget that has been set through regulations. Therefore, this needs to be anticipated so that there are no obstacles during the process due to material issues.

“For example, the unit price for us is Rp 350,000 per cubic metre; if bought from outside, it can reach Rp 525,000 to 550,000 when it arrives in Bogor, so the work implementers will incur losses,” concluded Ade.
