Bogor Regency Focuses on Restoring Access Post-Disaster

Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto has emphasised his commitment to moving swiftly to strengthen cross-sector synergy in resolving various issues and challenges in Bogor Regency, particularly the handling of flooding that struck dozens of areas.

He conveyed this following a meeting he led with several regional apparatus organisations (OPDs), which discussed flood management in 34 sub-districts while formulating future development policy directions.

“Various issues we will resolve gradually through collaboration. Tonight, we have concluded a series of important meetings, and we are beginning concrete steps for reconstruction,” Rudy stated on Tuesday, 21 April 2026.

In the latest flooding disaster, a total of 14 bridges were reported destroyed, comprising one regency-authority bridge and 13 village bridges. Nevertheless, the Bogor Regency Government emphasised that it will no longer differentiate jurisdictions in emergency situations.

“There are no more jurisdictional barriers. We will handle everything together. With support from all parties, including the 0621 Bogor Regency Military District Command, God willing, we will pursue the construction of the 14 bridges starting tomorrow,” he said.

He targeted the completion of all connecting bridges before Iduladha 2026 to ensure community accessibility returns to normal and economic activities recover promptly.

Furthermore, Rudy revealed that the majority of the floods were flash floods with short durations. Notably, there were no mass evacuations to tents, indicating improved community resilience and preparedness.

This success continues the achievements from 2025, when 12 bridges that were severed ahead of Eid al-Fitr were completed on time thanks to cooperation from all parties. “Bogor continues to improve. Bogor continues to build, both infrastructure and human resources. We extend our thanks for the support from all communities,” he added.

Rudy Susmanto also expressed apologies to the public while reaffirming the local government’s commitment to continuously enhancing services. “We apologise for not yet being able to satisfy everyone. However, we will continue to strive maximally to be good public servants. Disasters are not obstacles; rather, they strengthen our steps towards a more advanced, safe, just, and prosperous Bogor.”
