Bogor Regency expands People's School land to accommodate 2,000 students
Bogor Regency (ANTARA) - Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto is preparing additional land for the development of the People’s School (Sekolah Rakyat) in Jasinga so that its capacity can be increased from 1,080 to more than 2,000 students.
Secretary General of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Robben Rico, speaking during an inspection of the People’s School construction alongside Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto in Jasinga, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Monday, said the additional land is located next to the school complex.
“I am grateful that the Regent has also made it possible to increase capacity to more than 2,000 students who can be accommodated here by providing the land next door for the expansion of this People’s School,” Robben said.
The integrated education complex stands on 6.96 hectares of hilly land at an elevation of 161 metres above sea level.
The facilities being built include classrooms, dormitories for male and female students, teachers’ quarters, a multipurpose hall, and sports facilities.
Robben said the inspection was carried out to ensure construction stays on schedule ahead of the start of the 2026/2027 academic year.
The Ministry of Social Affairs, together with the Bogor Regency Government, is also coordinating with the Ministry of Public Works, which is responsible for the construction process.
According to him, the facilities that are already functional are targeted to be usable by the end of July 2026, while the entire construction is expected to be completed by mid-August 2026.
“Our hope is that on 31 August the new students can enter and take part in the School Environment Introduction Programme (MPLS),” he said.
Meanwhile, Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto said the Jasinga People’s School is part of the central government’s programme to provide access to quality education for children from underprivileged families.
According to Rudy, students receive a range of facilities free of charge, from education and accommodation to uniforms, three meals a day, and other supporting facilities.
“Underprivileged members of society receive facilities and an education system equal to some expensive private educational institutions in Indonesia. Here, everything is free,” Rudy said.
He views the construction of the People’s School as a long-term investment to prepare high-quality Indonesian human resources.
“The best investment today is an investment in human resources. So, ten years from now, this nation will have young people with good capacity, capable people who are being prepared from today,” he said.
Rudy said the presence of the People’s School in the western part of Bogor Regency is expected to benefit the people of Jasinga and a number of surrounding districts.
He invited the community to support the facility by jointly maintaining cleanliness and the environment around the school complex.
