Bogor Regency expands People's School land to accommodate 2,000 students

Bogor Regency is preparing additional land for the development of the People’s School in Jasinga, enabling its capacity to be increased from 1,080 to more than 2,000 students. Secretary General of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Robben Rico, said during a site inspection with Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto on Monday that the additional land is located adjacent to the school area. “I am grateful that the Regent has allowed the capacity to be increased to more than 2,000 students who can be accommodated here by providing the neighbouring land for expansion,” Robben said. The integrated educational area stands on 6.96 hectares of hilly land at an altitude of 161 metres above sea level. Facilities being built include classrooms, dormitories for male and female students, teachers’ dormitories, a multipurpose hall, and sports facilities. Robben said the inspection was carried out to ensure construction proceeds on schedule ahead of the 2026/2027 academic year. The Ministry of Social Affairs and the Bogor Regency government are also coordinating with the Ministry of Public Works, which is responsible for the construction process. According to him, functional facilities are targeted to be usable by the end of July 2026, while the entire construction is expected to be completed by mid-August 2026. “We hope that on 31 August, new students can enter and participate in the school orientation programme,” he said. Meanwhile, Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto said the Jasinga People’s School is part of the central government’s programme to provide access to quality education for children from underprivileged families. According to Rudy, students receive various free facilities, including education, accommodation, uniforms, three meals a day, and other supporting amenities. “Underprivileged communities receive facilities and an education system equal to some private educational institutions in Indonesia that charge high fees. Here, everything is free,” Rudy said. He considers the construction of the People’s School a long-term investment to prepare quality Indonesian human resources. “The best investment today is an investment in human resources. So, in 10 years, this nation will have young people with good capacity, who are worthy, prepared from today,” he said. Rudy said the presence of the People’s School in the western part of Bogor Regency is expected to benefit the community in Jasinga and several surrounding sub-districts. He invited the public to support the facility by jointly maintaining cleanliness and the environment around the school area.
