Bogor Regency Council Speaker Urges Public to Maintain Order During Ramadan
Bogor Regency Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) Speaker Sastra Winara has called on all residents to maintain their health during the fasting month whilst also remaining devout and preserving public order.
"During fasting we must stay healthy, and of course we should not abandon our daily activities. We should fulfil our religious obligations whilst ensuring our work continues to run smoothly," he said on Thursday, 19 February 2026.
The appeal was made following tarawih prayers as part of a series of community engagement activities. Sastra emphasised that Ramadan represents a special moment to enhance the quality of worship whilst strengthening social solidarity within the community.
"The holy month of Ramadan is the right time to improve the quality of worship, increase charitable deeds, and strengthen togetherness," Sastra said.
On the same occasion, Sastra also reminded parents to be more active in supervising their children's activities, particularly at night. He noted that the habit of gathering or loitering on main roads until the pre-dawn meal has the potential to cause public order disturbances.
"We urge the public, especially the younger generation, to avoid unproductive activities such as congregating on streets until the early hours of the morning. It would be better to use the time for Quran recitation, religious study, or other positive activities," he said.
Furthermore, Sastra added that collaboration between the local government, security forces, and all elements of society is essential to creating a safe, comfortable, and conducive Ramadan atmosphere throughout Bogor Regency. He also called on residents to continue upholding tolerance, order, and the spirit of mutual cooperation as core values in community life.
"I invite all members of the public to maintain togetherness and strengthen the values of tolerance. Let us go through this blessed month with joy and enthusiasm in pursuing victory," Sastra said.
Separately, Sastra also highlighted the ongoing reorganisation of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) being carried out by the local government, particularly in the area surrounding the regency government complex and Pakansari Stadium.
According to him, the reorganisation aims to ensure that MSME activities are more orderly and comfortable, both for traders and visiting members of the public. "The government is currently organising locations for our MSME colleagues. Those being reorganised and those yet to be reorganised should please be patient," he said.
He expressed hope that the reorganisation process would be completed promptly so that MSME operators could resume trading properly, particularly around Pakansari Stadium and the Bogor Regency government grounds. "Hopefully the local government can complete the facilities so that MSMEs can carry on trading," he said.
