Commission I Chairman of the Bogor Regency Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), Irvan Maulana, has given his full backing to Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto's initiative to organise a communal planting of 1,000 trees at the Gelora Pakansari complex on Wednesday, 18 February 2026. The initiative is part of efforts to restore the natural environment in the area following a tornado that struck several days earlier.

The storm caused a number of trees to fall and inflicted damage on the largest stadium in Bogor Regency. "I consider this greening programme a concrete and strategic step in preserving the environment in Bogor Regency," Irvan Maulana told reporters on Thursday, 19 February 2026.

He said the activity would not only enhance the beauty of the area but also play an important role in maintaining air quality, preventing flooding, and strengthening the urban ecosystem. Participants included the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), members of the Bogor Regency DPRD, civil servants from the regency government, the Indonesian military (TNI), the police (Polri), and various community organisations.

"This movement is highly beneficial for the community. Besides beautifying the Pakansari area as an icon of Bogor Regency, tree planting is also a long-term investment in environmental sustainability," Irvan said.

He added that the cross-sector collaboration demonstrated a shared commitment between the executive, legislative, and other elements in building a greener and more sustainable Bogor Regency.

Meanwhile, Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto affirmed that the 1,000-tree planting drive was part of a collective movement to build environmental awareness. He expressed hope that similar actions could continue to be promoted across various sub-districts, not merely as ceremonies but accompanied by ongoing maintenance and monitoring.

With the involvement of various stakeholders, the activity is expected to serve as an example of cooperation in creating a Bogor Regency that is attractive, healthy, and environmentally friendly for future generations. Rudy said the total number of trees planted during the event reached approximately 1,000, with further additions planned in subsequent phases.

Previously, the local government had addressed the fallen trees caused by the tornado by neutralising and clearing the affected areas. "We are replacing the fallen trees with several new trees at once, and we are also filling in locations that previously had no vegetation. This is effectively a replanting effort," Rudy said.
