Bogor Principal Disappointed After Students Slapped by Alumni, Seeks Resolution

The head of a junior high school in Bogor has expressed disappointment after three of her students became victims of bullying, including being slapped by an alumnus. The school is seeking to ensure the students feel safe attending school and that such an incident does not happen again.

“On behalf of the junior high school, I am also disappointed with this incident. We did not expect this to happen. Three of our junior high school students became victims of bullying,” said Principal Reni Supriyati on Thursday, 13 August 2026.

Reni made the statement after a meeting involving the parents and the perpetrator’s school. She hopes her students will feel safe returning to school and that the incident will not be repeated. The victims’ parents have forgiven the perpetrator.

“We took the initiative to gather the children and also invited the school of the student who bullied our children, not to find fault,” Reni said. “But for accountability and security, and to determine how to protect our children going forward, so they are not afraid to go to school. We were worried that if they were not brought together, it might happen again.”

It was previously reported that the case of an alumnus slapping junior high school students wearing scout uniforms in Bogor City, West Java, was resolved amicably. The perpetrator promised not to repeat the act.

“It is true, regarding the legal aspect, it was agreed by the victim’s family, considering that the perpetrator is also still a minor, leading to the conclusion that the matter be resolved amicably, without being taken to court,” said Ipda Budi Setiawan, Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit at the Central Bogor Police, on Thursday, 13 August.

Budi stated that the families of the victim and the perpetrator had mediated and agreed to reconcile shortly after the incident. The results of the mediation were also conveyed to the schools of both the victim and the perpetrator, but the bullying video circulated and went viral on social media.

The police then took the initiative to visit the school to confirm the identities of the students in the viral video this afternoon. The police also followed up on the mediation results between the victim’s and perpetrator’s families, who did not wish to pursue legal action.

“The conclusion from this incident is that the matter is not being resolved through legal channels, and both parties continue to resolve the issue amicably. Most importantly, they made a statement promising not to repeat the act,” Budi said.
