Bogor prepares decree on parking

BOGOR (JP): The Bogor administration is currently preparing a
new decree to increase parking fees, an official says.

Under the new decree, which is still in the process of being
approved by the West Java governor, the parking fee for a four-
wheel-drive vehicle in parking areas and parking stations will be
raised from Rp 500 (22 US cents) for the first two hours to Rp
750.

E. Lesmana, head of the Bogor Parking Management Unit, was
quoted by Antara as saying that parking fees in the city's
streets would be increased from Rp 300 to Rp 500.

Sutarno, a member of the administration's public relations
staff, confirmed the preparation of the parking fee increases.

He said that if the governor failed to approve the proposal
within three months, the Bogor administration would still have
the legal authority to implement it.

There have been complaints from many motorists that a number
of parking attendants have begun raising the parking fees prior
to the issue of the decree.

There have also been complaints that the parking fee
applicable to indoor parking is being applied to vehicles parked
on the street. (29)
