Bogor Police Implement Situational One-Way Traffic System on Puncak Route During Long Holiday
Bogor Police Traffic Unit Chief Iptu Afif Widhi Ananto stated that traffic flow on the first day of the Iduladha holiday remained smooth, so traffic management measures have not yet been implemented. “The one-way system is not currently in place for either the Jakarta or Puncak direction as traffic remains normal,” he said in Cibinong on Wednesday (27 May).
By 1:00 PM WIB, 14,300 vehicles had travelled from Jakarta to Puncak, while approximately 10,000 moved from Puncak to Jakarta, totalling 24,000 vehicles passing through Ciawi Toll Gate.
Afif explained the one-way system would be activated based on vehicle volume through traffic counting with Jasa Marga and on-ground monitoring. “If there is a surge in vehicles from Jakarta to Puncak, the one-way system towards Puncak will be enforced in the morning, and vice versa from Puncak to Jakarta in the afternoon,” he said.
The one-way system towards Puncak typically starts at 7:00 AM to accommodate tourists from Jakarta, while the return flow from Puncak to Jakarta usually begins at 12:00 PM or adjusted according to hotel check-out times. However, the schedule is situational and adjusted based on real-time traffic.
Bogor Police have deployed 120 traffic unit personnel and officers from local police stations to secure traffic flow during the Iduladha long holiday. Peak tourist traffic towards Puncak is expected between Saturday and Sunday as people continue to enjoy holidays until Monday.
The traffic unit has not implemented an odd-even vehicle system during the holiday period. “We urge the public to monitor the Bogor Traffic Management Centre’s social media channels for the latest traffic updates,” Afif added.
