The Bogor Regency Government, West Java, is opening a new road approximately 10 kilometres long, stretching from Jalan Transyogi to Sukaresmi Village in the Sukamakmur District, to support a new economic growth centre in the eastern region.

Speaking in Cibinong on Tuesday, the Regent of Bogor, Rudy Susmanto, stated that road construction will begin in 2025 and is targeted for completion in 2026 as part of efforts to ensure even development across Bogor Regency.

“We will begin in 2025 by opening a new 10-kilometre road. It will not be finished in 2<0xA0>2025, but is targeted for completion in 2026, spanning from Jalan Transyogi to Sukaresmi Village,” said Rudy.

The construction of this road is linked to plans to develop a new economic growth centre in the eastern Bogor area, which has been prepared by the local government.

Rudy noted that by 2025, the Bogor Regency Government has finalised the land acquisition of 64.5 hectares in Sukaresmi Village to serve as the site for this growth centre.

According to him, developing economic growth centres is one of the local government’s steps in responding to community aspirations regarding equitable development, including the hopes for the formation of a new autonomous region in East Bogor.

Rudy explained that the process of regional expansion involves stages and authorities that do not rest entirely with the regency government. Therefore, the Bogor Regency Government has chosen to exercise its existing authority by preparing infrastructure and new growth centres to drive balanced development.

“To ensure that the community’s hopes are met and that the benefits of development are felt by all residents of Bogor Regency, we are establishing new economic growth centres in the western and eastern regions,” he said.

Rudy added that the Transyogi-Sukaresmi road construction also complements the infrastructure improvements being undertaken by the local government in the eastern part of Bogor Regency.

In collaboration with the central government through the Regional Road Instruction (IJD) programme, the Bogor Regency Government has been reconstructing the road from Tajur Village, Citeureup District, towards Sukamakmur since 2025, with work continuing into 2026.

Rudy believes that connectivity is a fundamental foundation for unlocking regional growth. Improved road access is expected to ease public mobility while simultaneously boosting economic activity.

He stated that this policy is part of a development strategy for Bogor Regency that does not merely focus on Cibinong, but targets the western, eastern, northern, and southern regions.

“If you want to develop a region, what is the first thing to build? Like a body, you must first build the arteries. What are those arteries? The road network. Inter-regional connectivity, so that in the future, the impact of equitable development can be felt directly by the community,” Rudy concluded.
