Bogor Ojek Driver Fights Mugger, Suspect Beaten by Mob
Last night in Desa Tegal Panjang, Bogor, a street-based ojek driver was attacked by a would-be robber. The victim, 27-year-old Syaiful Azis, resisted when the assailant, who had been riding with him, demanded his motorcycle in a secluded area. The confrontation turned physical and the victim cried out for help. Local residents chased and then beat the suspect after he warned that he was being robbed. Police arrived and detained the suspect, who is now receiving treatment at Rumah Sakit Kramat Jati. He sustained facial injuries and a broken tooth from the mob attack. Police also recovered a kunci leter T—a T-shaped key used in motorbike theft—from the suspect. Officers said they arrived promptly; if delayed, the suspect might have sustained worse injuries. Both the victim and the suspect were taken to a puskesmas for treatment; the victim sustained only minor scrapes from being dragged during the fight and was allowed to go home around midday.
