Bogor Mayor: Scout Movement shapes character of young generation

Bogor Mayor Dedie A Rachim has stated that the Scout Movement plays a crucial role in shaping the character of the younger generation so that they become more relevant, skilled, creative, and highly adaptable in facing the dynamics of the times.

He made the statement after leading the 65th Scout Day Grand Ceremony at the Bogor City level at Sempur Field, Bogor City, on Tuesday.

“Technology provides capability, while character provides direction so that it is used for good,” said Dedie.

Over 65 years, the Scout Movement has played an important role in shaping a generation that is of good character, disciplined, independent, responsible, and patriotic.

The values of the Tri Satya and Dasa Darma must continue to serve as a foundation in facing changing times while preparing the generation for Golden Indonesia 2045.

The 65th Scout Day and the 12th National Jamboree in 2026 carry the theme “Creating, Innovating, Skilled and Independent to Support Food Self-Sufficiency”.

Dedie said this theme affirms the Scout Movement’s commitment to supporting national resilience and independence.

Food self-sufficiency is not only about production, but also about building skills, innovation, entrepreneurship, the use of technology, and concern for the environment.

“Therefore, scouting education must continue to evolve, from learning by doing to learning, creating, and solving: learning, creating, and solving real problems,” he explained.

This spirit has been realised by the Bogor City Branch Quarter through various activities, such as planting trees and vegetables, chicken farming, and the Women Farmers programme.

Community service is also carried out through blood donation, charitable giving, assistance for places of worship, and mutual cooperation to repair prayer rooms.

“This is the Scout Movement we hope for, present in the community, caring for the environment, and providing real benefits to others,” said Dedie Rachim.

On that occasion, he handed over the Bogor City Scout Movement Branch Quarter decree on the Awarding of Scout Movement Badges, the Most Active Scout Groups, the Environmental Care Pioneer Task Force, and Scout Group Accreditation certificates.

In addition, he also accompanied the handover of plant seedlings by the leadership of the National Kalpataru Special Unit and the handover of wheelchair assistance.
