Bogor Mayor Proposes Extension of Jabodebek LRT and TransJakarta to His Region
Bogor Mayor Dedie A. Rachim has proposed expanding the mass transportation networks of the Jabodebek LRT and TransJakarta to connect directly to the Bogor City area. The proposal was presented during a meeting with Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung in Jakarta. Dedie stated that strengthening cross-regional transport connectivity is an urgent need within the Jabodetabek agglomeration framework to address traffic congestion and improve residents’ mobility. “Transport issues cannot be resolved independently. There must be joint steps within the agglomeration framework so that handling is more comprehensive and has a real impact on society,” Dedie said in Bogor on Tuesday (5/5/2026), quoted from Antara. In the meeting held at Jakarta City Hall on Monday (4/5/2025), Dedie proposed further development of the Jabodebek LRT to connect to Bogor. According to Dedie, this integration is crucial to strengthen the connected public transport system in the Jabodetabek area. Dedie emphasised that Bogor City holds a strategic position as the main supporting region for Jakarta. Therefore, active involvement in metropolitan transport planning is deemed important so that development benefits can be felt more evenly. He assessed that strengthening cross-regional mass transport networks could also help reduce the traffic burden that has long occurred in the Jabodetabek area. This is considering that the river flow systems in the Jabodetabek region are interconnected from upstream to downstream, so handling cannot be done partially. In addition, waste management, environmental preservation, and strengthening fire mitigation capacity were also discussed. Dedie added that this discussion also aligns with strengthening the Jabodetabek agglomeration concept, which now has a national legal basis. With this legal foundation, coordination between regions is expected to run more structured and effective.
