Bogor Mayor Confronted by Street Vendors During Surprise Inspection on Jalan Pedati, Vendor: "Do You Have a Stomach, Sir?"

Bogor — Bogor Mayor Dedie A Rachim was confronted by street vendors (PKL) during a surprise inspection (sidak) on Jalan Pedati, Suryakencana.

Based on observations, Dedie, along with the Bogor City Government (Pemkot) team, walked along Jalan Pedati to check the area’s conditions regarding the regulation of PKL.

At that time, the PKL were no longer selling on the pavements.

“What are you waiting for, madam?” Dedie asked.

“Waiting for you to pass by, sir, so we can trade a little—we need to eat—but alhamdulillah, we’ve met you,” the female PKL replied.

“Where’s the corn cob?” Dedie continued.

“I’ve put it away first; what if I have a stomach, sir?” she answered.

Dedie did not respond to the statement and instead asked again whether the vendor would resume selling on the pavement after he left.

The PKL replied that she would continue vending to meet living needs.

“Of course, we have stomachs to fill. Do you have a stomach, sir? That’s all—street vending is treated like chickens,” the woman said.

Dedie merely smiled without responding and continued the inspection with the Pemkot team.

When confirmed by reporters, Dedie said the conversation contained complaints from PKL who still had customers in the Jalan Pedati area.

He claimed to have invited the PKL to relocate to Jambu Dua Market.

“Why? Because of transport access, perhaps. Earlier, she asked for some leniency for transport to enter the market,” he added.
