A man with the initials AM was taken to a police station by the family of his former girlfriend, S, after he allegedly shared private content on social media.

“Based on the information obtained, the two parties became acquainted through social media in May 2026 and entered into a personal relationship,” said Parung Police Chief Commissioner Maman Firmansyah in a written statement on Tuesday (18/8/2026).

The pair had met on Sunday (16/8) evening. Police said the relationship between AM and S had already ended.

“As time went on, the relationship between the two parties became strained until communication was eventually cut off,” he said.

The problem then arose because AM allegedly uploaded screenshots of S’s private content accompanied by certain accusations. The upload was subsequently discovered by S’s family.

“The upload was then discovered by the family concerned. Following up on this, the woman’s family approached and brought the man to Parung Police Station for clarification and mediation,” he said.

Police then conducted further investigation. Police said the relationship between the two occurred by mutual consent and that both were adults.

“Regarding the alleged defamation, threats, and distribution of private content through electronic media, the locus delicti (scene of the incident) and the authority to handle it need to be adjusted to the jurisdiction with authority,” he explained.

Police then recommended that the woman’s side visit the police station according to the jurisdiction where the incident occurred if they wished to pursue the case. He said both parties agreed not to take legal action.

“In the agreement reached, the woman’s family for the time being will not proceed with filing a report, on the condition that the man no longer distributes or shows private content relating to the woman to other parties,” he said.
