Bogor Housing Complex Floods to 80 cm, Security Guard: 'The Water Kept Rising'
BOGOR, KOMPAS.com — The Tamansari Persada housing complex in Bogor City was flooded after heavy rains on Monday night (18 May 2026). The complex security guard, Amir (33), said the flooding occurred around 7:00 pm WIB with a strong water flow. The flood that covered the Jalan Tamansari Persada road was estimated to be between 60 and 80 cm high. “It happened very quickly, in my view it was quite larger; within a few minutes the water rose, rose, rose,” Amir told Kompas.com at the scene on Tuesday (19 May 2026). “At that time, Amir couldn’t check residents’ conditions because he was trapped inside the guard post.” “Nevertheless, he still informed residents walking past to go to the front of the cluster and take the middle carriageway.” “If they took the outer lane, residents could fall into the canal because the control box had shifted due to the flood.” “During the flooding, his phone kept ringing as he received calls from residents. About five residents contacted Amir on Monday night.” ” ‘Sir, is there flooding? If there is flooding, ’Do you think cars can get in? How about motorbikes?’ That’s usually how it goes. Usually residents, when heavy rain, always contact us,” he explained. “The flood in Tamansari Persada slowly receded around 10:15 pm WIB.”
