Bogor Drainage Widening: Ornamental Plant Traders Request Relocation Time

Ornamental plant traders on Jalan Dadali in Bogor will be relocated to the Regional Ring Road (R3) due to a drainage widening project by the Bogor City Government (Pemkot Bogor).

One trader, Arliyan, 56, said he has been selling ornamental plants on Jalan Dadali for generations, inherited from his aunt since 1989. Although occupying inherited land, he has no issue with relocation to R3, having secured a 15-metre space there since 2016.

‘In 2016, we were advised to take up space there for relocation. My son and I participated in community service for about nine months to secure a spot on R3 Road — that was a nine-month struggle,’ he said.

‘The government suggested this relocation, but since the current site is still in use, we have no choice but to move. No additional conditions,’ he added.

He requested time from the city government to prepare his new location on R3 before moving from Jalan Dadali.

‘I’m already tidying up there. Part of my stock is temporarily stored with relatives nearby,’ Arliyan said.

Another trader, Rudi Herwanto, 33, agreed to the relocation to R3 in East Bogor.

‘Relocating to R3 is acceptable to us and our colleagues. However, once we have a location there, we need time to prepare before moving,’ Rudi said.

Like Arliyan, Rudi has had a stall on R3 since 2016. However, he wants all 30 traders from Jalan Dadali to relocate together, as selling ornamental plants there has been a generational business.
