Bogor DLH Garbage Truck Driver Found Dead 'Asleep' in Cabin

A man named Atim Rastim (73) was found dead in the cabin of a garbage truck in Bubulak, Sindang Barang Village, Bogor Barat, Bogor City. Atim was a garbage truck driver employed by the Bogor Regency Environmental Agency (DLH) and is believed to have died from illness.

“That is correct, he was found dead inside the garbage truck. Yes, the deceased was a garbage truck driver,” said Bogor Barat Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head Ipda Imam Bachtiar on Thursday (20/8/2026).

Imam said the body was discovered by his colleague Ade, who came to the location to check on the victim after he had complained of feeling unwell. The victim was found lifeless, lying on his back in the truck cabin at 10.30 WIB.

“He arrived at the location at around 10.30 WIB and checked, and it turned out the victim had already passed away. He was in a sleeping position inside the cabin, with all the truck doors closed, but the window glass was open,” Imam said.

Imam stated that Atim was a driver of a truck belonging to the Bogor Regency Environmental Agency, who was believed to have been about to transport waste to the Galuga Final Processing Site. Atim is suspected to have died from illness.

“Atim Rastim was the driver of a garbage truck owned by the Bogor Regency Government, with registration number F-9164-FB. The victim is suspected to have died while ill, and there were no wounds from blunt objects or sharp weapons on his body,” Imam said.

“Witness Ade received a WhatsApp message from Ahmad, who informed him that the victim was suffering from chest pain and had taken medicine but was still in pain,” he added.

According to Imam, the family has accepted the incident as a misfortune. The family also declined to have the body autopsied.

“The victim was immediately taken by his family, and they have made a written statement refusing a post-mortem examination,” he concluded.
