Bogor District Forum Facilitates Sanctioned Running Events at Pakansari to Prevent Illegal Racing
Bogor District — The Forum of Regional Leaders (Forkopimda) in Bogor District, West Java, has facilitated organised running events for young people in the Pakansari Stadium area as an effort to channel their passion for the sport whilst preventing illegal activities that could disturb public order during Ramadan.
Bogor Police Chief AKBP Wikha Ardilestanto stated that the events will be held every Sunday evening throughout Ramadan, involving participants from various sub-districts across Bogor District.
“We have provided facilities for the running events. Every Sunday evening in the Pakansari area, approximately 200 runners from representatives of all sub-districts participate,” said Wikha in Cibinong on Sunday.
He explained that the events are structured as staged competitions, beginning with qualifying rounds, elimination rounds, and culminating in final matches scheduled to run until mid-Ramadan.
According to him, providing an official venue aims to ensure sporting activities continue while not disrupting general road users or public comfort.
“We are providing space through Dashrun Bogor so that running enthusiasm can be channelled, but without closing roads or disturbing the community,” he said.
The police chief also urged the public not to organise illegal street racing activities, which could potentially trigger security disturbances and accidents.
Beyond facilitating sporting activities, combined military, police, and local government personnel continue conducting night patrols to anticipate potential social friction, gang clashes, and illegal racing incidents.
He requested the public to immediately report any gatherings that could pose security risks through the police hotline 110 so that officers can respond promptly in the field.
Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto added that maintaining order during Ramadan involves not only enforcement actions but also providing positive activities for young people.
With this approach, the local government hopes that the Ramadan period in Bogor District remains safe, orderly, and conducive.
