The Communication and Informatics Office (Diskominfo) of Bogor Regency, West Java, educated students on digital literacy and the broadcasting world through the OB Van Teman FM Goes to School programme at SMP Negeri 2 Ciseeng on Thursday. Head of Bogor Regency Diskominfo Bambang Widodo Tawekal stated that the OB Van Teman FM Goes to School programme represents a form of the local government’s commitment to introducing the development of communication media to students from an early age. The activity is part of the Bogor Regency Government’s efforts to strengthen information, communication, and digital broadcasting literacy among the younger generation by providing a direct learning experience about the media production process. According to him, radio still plays an important role as a relevant medium for information, education, and communication amidst the rapid development of digital technology. “Through the OB Van Goes to School programme, we want to reintroduce the important role of radio as a medium for information, education, and communication that remains relevant amidst the development of digital technology,” said Bambang. He explained that the students were introduced to the radio broadcasting process, content production, and the role of media in conveying accurate and beneficial information to the public. In addition to introducing Radio Teman FM as a radio station owned by the Bogor Regency Government, the activity was also designed interactively so that students could gain an enjoyable learning experience. “We want to provide a fun learning experience while broadening students’ insights into the world of communication and broadcasting. By being directly involved, they can understand how correct and useful information is conveyed to the public,” he said. Bambang added that the programme also serves as a means of collaboration between Diskominfo and the education sector in supporting the development of character, creativity, and digital literacy skills among students. He hopes that similar activities can encourage the younger generation of Bogor Regency to become intelligent, creative, and responsible individuals in utilising technology and information. Meanwhile, Head of SMP Negeri 2 Ciseeng Siti Rahmayanti appreciated the implementation of the programme for providing a new experience for students to get to know the world of communication and broadcasting directly. “This activity not only broadens their knowledge but also motivates students to be more courageous in communicating, creative, and confident in developing their potential,” said Siti.
