KAI Commuter Indonesia (KCI) has adjusted services on the Bogor–Jakarta Kota commuter line route owing to routine maintenance of train sets. Lasarus, chair of House of Representatives Commission V, called on KCI to prepare reserve trains so that maintenance does not affect passenger service.

“To my mind, the fault lies with them — if you want to carry out maintenance, surely you should have reserve trains ready, so that there is no shortage of back-up rolling stock,” Lasarus told journalists on Tuesday (8/9/2026).

“The information we received is simply that there is routine maintenance underway on the train sets operating out of Bogor,” he continued.

He said routine maintenance is necessary to ensure journey safety. However, in his view, such measures should not disrupt services, particularly as the Bogor route is one of the busiest commuter lines.

“Why is routine maintenance needed? Perhaps it relates to safety. But the point is that when maintenance is carried out, there should be reserve trains available so that the number of trains can still cope well with the number of passengers,” he said.

Lasarus urged the government and the operator to find alternatives promptly to address the reduction in commuter services. He is concerned the problem will grow if the maintenance lasts for long.

“Alternatives should be found straight away. We in Commission V are seeking alternatives urgently. How long will this maintenance go on? If it lasts days, it will be troublesome. Even in a single day it has already caused problems — what more if it goes on for two or three days? Maintenance may not be finished in just a day or two,” he said.

“If they knew routine maintenance was scheduled, reserve trains should have been prepared. In essence, Commission V is asking the government — in this case the operator, PT KAI — to provide alternative trains so that passengers can still be accommodated even while routine maintenance is under way,” he added.

Earlier, more than a dozen journeys on the Bogor–Jakarta Kota electric commuter (KRL) route and its return service were cancelled this morning. KAI Commuter Indonesia stated that the adjustment to the Jabodetabek Commuter Line timetable is temporary.

Karina Amanda, VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter, said the timetable adjustment was made to match the number of train sets being operated.

“We are currently carrying out intensive maintenance on the available KRL train sets, for the sake of safe and secure journeys,” Karina said in a statement on Monday (7/9).

She said seventeen Commuter Line journeys were being adjusted today. The departure schedule adjustments apply to morning, afternoon and evening services.

With the adjusted timetable, KAI Commuter is today operating 1,048 Commuter Line journeys across the entire network. Previously, KCI operated 1,065 journeys each day.
