Bogor City Transportation Agency Revokes Permits for 313 'Old Angkots'
The Bogor City Transportation Agency (Dishub) in West Java has revoked the route permits of 313 public minivans (angkot) that are technically over 20 years old. Owners have been instructed not to operate these vehicles.
“From the 1,780 angkots with a technical age of over 20 years, we have decommissioned 313 as of 14 July. These 313 vehicles are no longer on the road because their route permits have been revoked and deactivated,” said Dody Wahyudin, Head of the Transportation Division at the Bogor City Dishub, on Wednesday (15/7/2016).
Dody explained that the hundreds of angkots were netted in raids following the issuance of Mayor Regulation Number 11 of 2026, which stipulates the elimination of angkots older than 20 years. He added that some owners voluntarily surrendered their vehicle route permit documents.
“This is the result of enforcement operations and cooperation with legal entities and transportation organisations. So, from the total of 1,780 angkots with a technical age of over 20 years, we have deactivated the route permits for 313 of them, leaving the current total at 1,780 minus 313,” he added.
Dody stated that owners are given the option to rejuvenate their fleets or scrap the vehicles. They can also participate in a conversion programme or replace two old angkots with one new unit.
“We will prepare a statement letter for the vehicle owners or legal entities regarding whether they will scrap their vehicles, convert them, or rejuvenate them by replacing them with newer models,” Dody said.
“As mandated by Mayor Regulation Number 11 of 2026, owners are given a six-month deadline. So they still have the opportunity within six months to rejuvenate their vehicles,” he continued.
It was previously reported that the Bogor City Transportation Agency recorded 1,780 public minivans with a technical age of over 20 years. These old angkots are to be regulated in accordance with the mayoral regulation on the age limit of public transport vehicles.
“The current number is approximately 1,780 units, based on the latest data in the Transportation Agency’s database as of May 2026. The 1,780 angkots are those over 20 years old. Meanwhile, those under 20 years old number around 830,” Dody Wahyudin stated on Tuesday (16/6/2026).
“Indeed, the number of angkots under 20 years old is smaller, only around 800 units, and that number will continue to decrease every month as their age increases,” he added.
