Bogor City Officials Raid Cafes and Stalls, Seize 277 Bottles of Illegal Alcohol
Joint enforcement officers raided a number of cafes and small grocery stalls suspected of selling alcoholic beverages without permits, or illegally, at several locations in Bogor City. A total of 277 bottles of alcohol of various brands and types were seized from seven raid sites.
“The number of drinks we seized last night was 277 bottles of alcohol from categories A, B, and C. We secured them to be destroyed later,” said Bogor City Civil Service Police Chief Pupung Wahyu Purnama on Thursday (20/8/2026).
Pupung said the raid was carried out as part of regional regulation enforcement, as well as to follow up on public complaints regarding the circulation of allegedly illegal alcohol. The raid was conducted together with the Indonesian National Armed Forces and National Police, targeting around seven cafes and grocery stalls indicated to be selling alcohol without permits.
“We swept seven locations. In detail, five cafes, then cigarette traders’ stalls on the roadside at two locations,” said Pupung.
Of the locations raided, Pupung said only some cafes had permits to sell category A alcoholic beverages, or those below 5 percent alcohol content. Some cafes were also found not to have permits to sell alcohol above 5 percent and 20 percent, so the alcohol found was secured.
“In general, all of them already have category A sales permits, but there were two cafes that did not yet have category A permits, so we also secured their category A items,” said Pupung.
“Meanwhile, the others generally already had category A permits, but they did not yet have category B and C permits, so we secured the category B and C items, those with 5 to 20 percent alcohol and above 20 percent,” he added.
