The pedestrian floor appears dirty, slippery, and smelly due to rubbish discarded indiscriminately, as well as activities involving washing eating utensils and remnants of goods on the pedestrian area by street vendors,” said Bogor Mayor Dedie Rachim on Friday (10/4/2026). His team also found dangling cables. It turned out that these cables were illegally supplying electricity to the street vendors in the surrounding area. “The illegal electricity supply was covered by stalls selling fried chicken and noodles across from Bogor City Town Square,” he revealed. While tracing the source of the electricity, officials also found remnants of bottles of alcoholic beverages (liquor). The liquor seller was masquerading as a street vendor. “Dozens of bottles of alcoholic beverages from that stall were then seized to be destroyed,” he stated. According to him, the town square area has long received attention. Warnings have been given but ignored by the street vendors. “We are reiterating the emphasis to ensure the presence of the government in enforcement, in line with the President’s directive that all regions must implement the Safe, Healthy, Clean, and Beautiful (ASRI) programme,” he said. For the illegal electricity used by the street vendors, enforcement was carried out jointly with PLN. Officials arrived at the location and cut off the illegal electricity supply installed by the street vendors. “We invited PLN to disconnect the illegal electricity used for illegal activities. This is our concern in resolving issues related to order in Bogor City,” he added.
